More about Jim

Jim Wachowich

I am a life-long proud Edmontonian.  I have lived, worked and volunteered in Edmonton Centre since 1994.

My wife Laurie and I have two children in elementary school. I am the past co-chair of the elementary School Council and I also serve on the board of the Canadian Diabetes Association’s annual “Flame of Hope” golf tournament. I have also been involved with:

• Coaching children’s soccer, baseball and hockey
• Serving on the Executive of the Glenora pre-school
• Support for community league activities and sports
• Working on numerous other volunteer boards

For the past 12 years I have been advocating for residential consumers by representing the Consumers’ Coalition of Alberta. I am an independent voice for residential customers in the debate over rising utility rates. And, I’m frequently asked to comment on consumer issues by the media, governments and community organizations.

I continue to appear before the Alberta Energy Utilities Board representing residential consumers on numerous electric and gas utility matters.

As a consumer advocate and a lawyer I understand how government decisions impact everyone in our community. I will work to make sure Edmonton Centre is well represented in the federal government.

I am the candidate for the Liberal party in Edmonton Centre because I believe the Liberal Party of Canada and Stéphane Dion offer the best vision for the future of Canada.
